• Happy New Year!

Well I had almost forgotten about this website, so here’s my late happy new year wishes to everybody for 2011!

2011 Is promising to be an interesting and exciting year for me! This year I’m hoping to get 1 year and about 2000 kilometers closer to my goals. Also, I should definitely make sure to get that drivers license this year.

    Kaboooom!
  • Running Apache on Windows

Want to start with PHP but don’t have a place to test your scripts, or just want to test your application locally before putting it on your webserver? Here’s how to quickly get Apache, MySQL and PHP running on a Windows 7 machine without having the services running in the background when you don’t need them!

WAMPServer is an application that can quickly set up a web development environment on a Windows machine. It comes with Apache, MySQL, PHP and phpMyAdmin to help with your web development.

WAMPServer comes as an installer and install just like any other application. After installing it, it silently sits in your system tray where you can choose to start or stop it’s services, and switch it between the and online and offline mode which makes it able to serve its pages to the internet or just locally. Simply use the included phpMyAdmin to set up a MySQL database, save your PHP scripts to the www directory of WAMPServer, and you’re good to go!

Also running Skype? It may prevent WAMPServer from starting Apache!
To remedy, open Skype, go to Tools, then Options and under Advanced, open the Connections tab. Make sure the box “use port 80 and 443 as alternatives for incoming connections” is unchecked.
